Truckee River
The picturesque Truckee River is named after a Paiute Indian Chief who is known to have guided an emigrant party from the headwaters of the Humboldt River up the Truckee River and over Donner Summit. The Truckee is the only outlet from Lake Tahoe and runs 121 miles from Tahoe City, CA. to Pyramid Lake north of Reno, NV.
Along the Truckee River there are very few properties remaining that are privately owned, however they do occasionally come up for sale. Real estate prices typically range from $400,000 to $5,000,000 depending on the size of the property, river footage and age of the home.
